Universal I/O

Bulletin 1771 Universal I/O provides a full range of digital, analog, and specialty I/O for a wide variety of applications. Use Universal I/O modules in a local I/O chassis of a PLC-5® system. Or, use an I/O communication adapter module to place I/O in a chassis at a location remote from the controller.

  • Up to 32 I/O per module
  • 512 through 3072 maximum forcible I/O in any mix
  • Up to 50,176 maximum non-forcible I/O
  • Mechanical keying of the module to the backplane connector
  • Optical coupling and filter circuitry for signal noise reduction
  • External connections are terminated at a removable wiring arm
  • Some modules require remote termination panels (RTPs) for I/O connections

1771 Digital I/O modules

  • Electrical ranges from 5…276V AC or DC
  • Relay contact output modules are available for ranges from 0…276V AC or 0…175V DC
  • Isolated inputs and outputs on some modules

1771 Analog I/O modules

  • Up to 16-bit resolution
  • Thermocouple and RTD modules available
  • Software-selectable features include digital filtering and range selection per I/O

1771 Specialty I/O modules

  • Process control modules
  • Positioning modules
  • Many specialized modules, including high-speed logic
  • controller and configurable flowmeter module

1771 I/O Communication Adapter modules

  • Use a 1771 I/O communication adapter module to interface with I/O modules located remote from the PLC-5® controller
  • Available for ControlNet™ (including redundant-media) network, Universal Remote I/O link, or Extended Local I/O (on selected controllers)
